740 Heinz Avenue will be a state-of-the-art research and development laboratory for organizations in the life science, physical science and nano-technology sectors.  The new structure will complement the other 14 life science laboratory and pharmaceutical manufacturing buildings in the West Berkeley Aquatic Park Campus.

The new structure will have four occupied floors with a total square footage of approximately 100,000 square feet.  The design will incorporate highly energy-efficient mechanical and electrical systems, include a solar photo-voltaic roof and co-generation plants for electrical generation.  Leading edge energy efficient HVAC design will further contribute to the overall efficiency of the building.
